ESD/TVS on inputs and outputs for 74LVC1G14

The part is OVT rated as well as Hi-Z at zero power. This would imply no high side clamp diodes. From what I’ve read the parts maintain an ESD rating by having an ESD/TVS type device on the inputs and outputs.  We are driving these parts with a current limited signal of 5mA @6V (sometimes higher).  the question is can we safely violate the recommended rating of 5.5V since we are driving with a non low impedance signal.  thanks.

  • The application report Input and Output Characteristics of Digital Integrated Circuits at 3.3-V Supply Voltage (SZZA010) has the following information:

When exceeding the recommended range, there is no guarantee that the device actually works. But looking at this graph, it will be safe.
