DS90UB914A-Q1 application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB914A-Q1

Dear Sir,

We have a DS90UB914A-Q1 design application, please check its possible.(see below picture)

1. DS90UB914A-Q1 digital output (include Data, H/V Sync and Clock) its possible drive two device at same time?

2. If not, TI it's any Buffer/line driver can be use?

Please check and give us suggestion. Thanks!

  • Hello,

In theory, this should be possible but keep in mind that traces routed to buffer/line driver and also to device #1 and #2 should be 50 Ohms controlled impedance. These traces are a few MHz in frequency (so not VERY high speed but still fast edge rate) and adding a buffer will unfortunately cause a discontinuity in the line impedance (which can lead to signal integrity issues if not laid out properly).

I do not have any recommendations for a line driver so it is best to follow up with our cross-functional clocks and retimer team in TI for a solution.

  • Dear Sean,

Thank you for your explain and remind I will check this.

  • As an addition to Sean's post, I agree that care needs to be paid to the way that the signals would be layed out, but another area to pay attention to would be the signal integrity of the parallel clock.   I would strongly suggest using a clock cleaner to remove any jitter in the PCLK that the 914 puts out prior to using this as a frequency reference for the 913A devices.
