You are right IO-Link specification does not talk about analog outputs on connector pins. But most of the switches/ sensors available in market are provided with analog output on the other pin like this,
So to provide this analog output we need to have separate DAC IC (may be TI - DAC8750) or MCU with in built DAC and some discrete components.
If we've a single chip solution with switching output OR IO-Link(this is already there in SN65HVD10x) and one more switching output OR 4-20mA analog output, then it will be best option to design such kind of sensor with minimum components because these sensors are small in size so PCB size should be small. As of now there is no such IC available in market but if it is available then it will be easy for development.

What are the thoughts of your team regarding single chip solution.
One more thing Can we develop Micro controller to IO-Link level signal without transceiver? Is it possible to design this transceiver using discrete components?
