TPS65986 dedicate GPIO for DRP

Hi,

is it possible to have a dedicated GPIO for doing role detection? I have no experience with these devices and I would like to check with you if what I am thinking makes any sense:

By looking at byte 4 of the 0x69 C_CCn Pin State Register one can recognize the role of the Device like so:

If we have 44h or 47h then we would need to do either of the following 2 things:

Is this all you would need to do? Am I missing anything? Or am I completely wrong.

You can review Table 13.1 (GPIO Events) in TPS65986 firmware user's guide link below and see if any Event would fit the behavior you need.

Hi Tadeo,

You can use "PD_SOURCE_SINK_DISC" even for the GPIO. The GPIO should behave as follows after assigning this event:

1. Asserted high when USB PD contract negotiated as Source
2. Low when USB PD contract negotiated as Sink
3. High-Z when port is disconnected or no PD contract is active
