Datasheet on TPD8S300 (probably preliminary) contains very little information.

Questions:

1. Is it possible to power it from 5v source?

2. What to do with unused pins? connect them to gnd or power? how?

3. What is FLT pin function?

4. What RPD_G abbreviation means?

    Sorry about the limited information available in the current datasheet; because the product is pre-release we are still finalizing the release datasheet. I'm happy to support your design however!

    1. Is it possible to power it from 5v source?

    The nominal Vpwr voltage is 3.3V, with an absolute maximum voltage of 5V, however we do not recommend using about 4.5V. Above that level we can't guarantee reliability.

    2. What to do with unused pins? connect them to gnd or power? how?

    Our recommended best practice is to ground all unused pins. 

    3. What is FLT pin function?

    The fault pin shows when the chip is in an OVP condition. The pin is default high but will be pulled to 0V if the TPD8S300 has tripped and isolated the system.

    4. What RPD_G abbreviation means?

    The RPD pins are available to turn on or off dead battery functionality on your application. In order to enable your product to be charged over USB-C from a dead batter condition, make sure that the RPD_G1 pin is shorted to the C_CC1 pin and that the RPD_G2 pin is shorted to the C_CC2 pin. If your application is strictly for a DFP that will not require dead battery charging, tie both RPD pins to ground.

    In addition, please note the following recommended external components to ensure proper operation of the TPD8S300:

    Of particular importance, for best performance during an overvoltage event make sure that the .1uF capacitor on the Vbias pin is rated about 50V, and is preferably X7R with an 0402 or bigger footprint.
