TPS6598x Host Interface Utility Tools / GPIO configuration register

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65986EVM, DP-EXPANSION-EVM

Hi Team,

I am evaluating TPS65986EVM + DP-EXPANSION-EVM for evaluating alternate modes.
It seems GPIO configuration register can't be written correctly by TPS6598x Host Interface Utility Tools.

For example, actual GPIO that is assigned "Either DP or USB Event" is still high although I disabled "Either DP or USB3 Enable".
Could you confirm the issue?

  • Hi Yiata-san,

Please let us look into this a little longer. Could you give some background on why you are disabling the GPIO?

  • Hi Jacob-san,

I cleared the check box of "Either DP or USB Event (GPIO#0)" by utility tool while Type-C device that supports alternate mode is connected, then I found GPIO#0 shows still high.
However I disconnected Type-C device and cleared the check box of "Either DP or USB Event", GPIO#0 is disabled correctly. (GPIO#0 shows still low when I connect the Type-C device in this case.)

    >Could you give some background on why you are disabling the GPIO?
It is just evaluation purpose of utility tool.

It seems I have had a misunderstanding about correct behavior...
    Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Yiata-san,

Thank you for your patience. One thing, could you confirm that you are setting the GPIO low? Although the event has been disabled the GPIO will continue to be driven high until there is some change that occurs (like a disconnection).

  • Hi Jacob-san,

Thank you for your helpful comments.

    >One thing, could you confirm that you are setting the GPIO low?
Did you say about initial value of GPIO#0?
If the answer is yes, I set "low" for initial value of GPIO#0 in application customization tool.
