Two DS90UH948-Q1 into one 1080p screen

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UH948-Q1

Hi Team,

I am routing two DS90UH948-Q1 deserializers into one 1080p screen as such:

For this setup, I have a couple of questions:

1. When I have one 948 with its output disabled and the other 948 with its output enabled, I am seeking to understand how the signals from the 948 will interact with the 948 that has its outputs disabled? Do the disabled outputs becomes high-impedance? Is it possible the signals coming out of the enabled 948 can run into the pins of the disabled 948?

2. Is it required to have a switch or MUX to implement this setup, or can I wire the setup as shown above with no switch or MUX? Obviously the routing will have to be much different than what is shown above, but from a conceptual standpoint, is there a risk associated with doing what I have shown above?

Thank you,

Jared

  • Jared,

  • HI Jared,

For question #1: The signals from the disabled 948 become a high-impedance state so it will not back drive the disabled 948.

For question #2: There will be a stub hanging off of the "top" 948 OLDI outputs when it is transmitting when the "bottom" 948 is disabled.
Ideal scenario would be to use a switch or mux if not you will get more OLDI eye closure with the scenario you are showing above.

    Regards,

    Darryl
