[DP83867IR PAP] Boot strap and defalut register value

Hi,

I'd like to confirm about DP83867IR-PAP boot strap.
My customer said their strap pins configuration on their board don't match the default register value.
We believe their strap configuration is correct. Because STRAP_STS1 is a desired value.

STRAP_STS1 = 606c
     - ANEG_SEL0=ANEG_SEL1=1 (Advertise ability of 10/100 only)
     -  AMDIX_DIS = 0                      (Auto-MDIX=Enable)
     - Autoneg Disable = 0 (Auto-negotiation=Enable)

And then, the followings are default register value. It doesn't match with the STRAP_STS1 register value.

[default register value]
BMCR:3100
BMSR:7949
ANAR:01e1   :100BASE-TX, 10BASE support
ANLPAR:000
STS1:0000
PHYCR:4000  : Manual MDI configuration. (Disable automatic crossover)
PHYSTS:0002
MICR:e010
ISR:0000
CFG1:0200  : Advertise 1000Base-T Full Duplex ability.
CFG2:2bc7
STS2:0040
RGMIICTL:00d3
100CR:07a0
STRAP_STS1:606c
RXFSTS:0000
LEDCR1:6150
LEDCR2:4404
MUX_CFG:0c4e

Even If STRAP_STS1 = 606c,  the default register value show "Auto-MDIX is disable" and "Advertise 1000Base ability is available".
Is there something that is considered to be cause of that? I am mistaken?

#I don't have DP83867IR-PAP EVM. I just have DP83867ERGZ EVM. So I can't check this matter on EVM . Sorry...

Best Regards,
Taka

  • Hi Takahiro-san,

From your description, you are not mistaken. We will need some more information from you.

Can you provide a schematic of the strap resistors? I want to see which modes the pins were intended to be strapped to.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Rob-san,

Thank you for your kind support, always.
About a schematic, I will tell about the sharing one to my customer and get back to you.

In the meantime, let me confirm if I got it.
I am understanding that HW strapping pins are correct by STRAP_STS1 value.
Is my confirmation method correct for strap configraion?
(According to STRAP_STS1 value, it is the correct strapping pins as they wanted to set.)

    Best Regards,
    Taka

  • Hi Taka,

Your method is correct. It is odd that the STRAP_STS1 and the corresponding registers do not agree.
As Rob mentioned, please send schematics because there might be some odd behavior going on.

    Thank you,
    Ross
  • Hi Ross-san and Rob-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
I have their schematic. But, the confirmation result from my customer, it can't share that on E2E community.
Could I send it to your e-mail address directly?

    Best Regards,
    Taka
