Can we multiplex a USB signal to 20 USB devices using 1X2 multiplexer by cascading ?

Hi,

We have a requirement to access 20 USB devices in a PCB placed in a thermal chamber(operating Temperature @ 125C) using single USB host.We could not find any 1X20 Mux/Demux that can operate @ 125C. We could find 1x2 channel switch @ 125C.We would like to know if this switch can be used to access all the 20 devices by cascading the Switches as shown in the diagram. Will the shown architecture works fine? or is there any solution available with TI for this requirement? Kindly suggest.

Regards,

  • Vishal,

We do not have a 1:20 USB multiplexer that will operate at 125deg C. You have correctly found a 1:2 USB multiplexer that can operate at 125 deg C but we have a hard time knowing the system performance cascading that many switches in series without any USB re-drivers. I am going to move this thread to the computer and consuming forum to see if they can help you with USB re-driving devices or switch that have built in re-driving capability.

    Thank you,
    Adam
