I am trying to use icedax to rid data from a CD player (actually a blueray player, but the media is a CD) connected to a linux box using the TUSB9261DEMO, and a sata to slim sata adapter.

Reading the TOC works fine, but reading the data fails, with this kind of messages:

Errno: 5 (Input/output error), ReadCD MMC 12 scsi sendcmd: cmd timeout after 0.002 (60) s
CDB: BE 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 34 10 00 00
resid: 122304
cmd finished after 0.002s timeout 60s

Can you download the flash burner utility and tell me what is the firmware version of the TUSB9261?
Can you send a screen shot of the flash burner utility when the TuSB9261+blueray are connected showing the "advanced descriptors" window like in Pictures 4-2 and 4-7 of the Flash Burner User's Guide (link to www.ti.com/.../sllu125 )

It looks like the TUSB9261 is working properly, have you tried a different SSD?

Try enabling HID when you are burning the firmware.

The TUSB9261 is working properly with SSDs.This is not the scope of my question.
It is not working properly with an optical drive loaded with an audio CD on linux. I gave you the example of icedax, but any linux application trying to access the audio data will fail.

This is very simple to reproduce:

- get a SATA to slim ATA connector,
- connect the TUSB evaluation kit to the optical drive using this connector.
- Plug this to a linux box (the kit probably needs external power supply).
- Try to read the CD.

I have tried and reproduced this with multiple optical drives (blueray, DVD, etc...), multiple linux, and multiple applications.

Does this fail on Windows or only Linux? Audio CD only?

Can you provide a USB protocol trace? I see the command is a READ CD and the residual is large. We use the transfer length from the CBW but can only support transfers of 64KB at a time.

It fails only on Linux, and with audio CD only.

I can mount a cdrom or a blueray and access data without problems.

I have captured a whole trace but it is rather big (25 MBytes). Let me know how I can share it.

See below transfer summary for both the tusb9261 and a working device.

everything is similar until transfer 115

On the left is a tusb9261 capture showing the transfer when the error occurs, once this happens, the usb repeats the same sequence again and again and never starts the actual data transfer. On the right it is using another usb to sata bridge that is working properly

I think the failure has to do with the long transfer length is 122304-bytes used by Linux. My guess is that Windows is using a shorter length (<64KB).

This new firmware fixes the issue: I could test it on the TUSB9261DEMO board externally connected to the linux device.
Your assumption about the transfer size must be correct.
Do you still need the complete USB dump or is this test enough for you?
Do you plan to make an official firmware release with this fix?

As well, I would like complete the test by flashing the TUSB9261 that is embedded on my device.
I think that you have code to make linux flash update possible. Do you have a link where I could download it?

Elias, can you help with the Linux flash tool.

Alain, if the new FW works, then I don't need the full trace. Your screenshot was very helpful for me to quickly fix this so thanks again for recording the traces. Yes, this fix will be included in the next release which will probably be Jan/Feb timeframe. It should be fine for you to use the binary I provided in the meantime.
