DS100MB203 EVM Configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100MB203

Hi Team,

We'd like to use the DS100MB203 for a PCIe Gen3 application, in which the Din +/- differential input signals are to be re-transmitted on S_Out_A and S_Out_B differential pairs seamlessly.
We used an 8 Gbps signal generator and connected it to the Din input on the DS100MB203 EVK, and set the MODE pin (pin 21) to '0' , but don't see the output following the input's amplitude changes. Both A and B outputs amplitudes are at 400mV SE or 800mV differential. When we change the input to 400mV or 1.2V, nothing changes on the output.

Could you please share the settings on the EVK to have the S_Out_A/B outputs follow the Din input?
There are many switches on the EVK and we still haven't figured out how to set them up so the PCIe Gen3 signals will pass through.
Thanks!
Nabeel

DS100MB203

  • Hi Nabeel,

To make the DS100MB203 outputs not limiting using the EVM here are the settings to use.

    SW2 ENSMB ENSMB = 0 – PIN MODE

SW7: RESET = 0: enables the device; set switch pin2 to the ON position to connect to GND

    SW9  INPUT_EN = 1: 50 ohm termination, 1:2 FANOUT is enabled; set switches (3-2-1) = (OFF-OFF- ON)

    SW9 MODE = R: GEN 3 mode; set switches (6-5-4) = (OFF-ON-OFF)

Note with MODE=0 the MB203 is in limiting mode so the output will always be based on the VOD level and will not follow the input voltage level.

    Regards,

    Lee
