LMH1218 - Can we use OUT0- instead of OUT0+ ?

Hello Team,

Please allow me to make sure if this design is acceptable or not.

Our customer is planning to use LMH1218 OUT0- pin for SDI output, because it is easier to get better return loss margin compared with OUT0+ pin. The reason is that OUT0+ pin is next to VDD pin that it is difficult to have enough clearance near the pins. It might have been better to have the OUT0+ and OUT0- pin mapping in the opposite way if OUT0+ must be used.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • Hi Kawai-san,

During characterization and testing, we only performed testing with the OUT0+ output while leaving OUT0- terminated to GND with an AC cap and 75-ohm resistor. Although the cable driver is a differential driver, we would prefer that, if still possible, the customer consider using OUT0+ so that their results are consistent with the behavior we have validated in our lab during product testing.
