HV Differential Line Driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26C32, SN65HVD22

My customer is looking for a line driver with up to 24V differential input

it's for the VFD AC motor drive. i just see the AM26C32 however it's supprting low voltage differential input.

  • Hi Brian,

Are you looking for a driver IC that would take a high-voltage single-ended input signal and convert it to some standard differential output signal like RS-485 or RS-422? Or are you looking for a receiver like AM26C32, which would take in a high-voltage differential input and provide a low-voltage single-ended (TTL/LVTTL) output signal? What data rate do you need, and what is the maximum differential and single-ended input that needs to be supported?

  • Yes, my customer is looking for the Line driver IC with high-voltage differential input signal (5V to 24V) and convert it to the 3.3V digital output voltage. It's for the motor drive application. I don't think the AM26C32 can support such high-voltage. could you advice? Very thanks.
  • Data rate is 300Khz
  • SN65HVD22 would be able to handle these voltages and data rates. You could pull the DE (driver enable) pin low so that it behaves only as a receiver. The only issue is that it uses a 5-V supply voltage, and so the output voltage would be from 0-5 V. Is it possible for you to work around this, for example by using a voltage divider?
