TPS65982 EVM Boosterpack @ 20V, 5A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Hi, I'm using the TPS65982 EVM reference module.

How can I utilize its 20V, 5A Source capabilities? Do I need an add on device to achieve this power profile?

Its powered with the Dell DA130PE1-00 adapter (19.5V, 6.7A)

Thanks!

  • Hi Yaron,

You need an e-marked cable that is capable of 5A. All non e-marked cables will only support 3A. The TPS65982 will check the cable before it sends a PD contract above 3A to make sure the cable can support the higher current. When a supported cable is not used it will only advertise a maximum of 3A.

  • Hi Jacob,

    Thanks for your response.

I am using an e-marked 5A capable cable. I'm using 2 of the TI broads as source and sink. The DIP switch settings are 0 for the source and 7 for the sink. I see 3 profiles 5V@3A, 12V@3A and 20V@3A

Is there anything else that's required for the setup?

    Thanks!

    Yaron
