TPD2E007 placement suggestion

Hi,

Customer is using TPD2E007 to protect the 12V(VDD_12V) adapter on their board. VDD_12V is used to supply six bucks on their board. Can you suggest how to judge where is the best location to put TPD2E007? Do you see anything that can be improved from the attached schematics?

Hey Antony-

The schematic posted looks like it should be ok, by putting both channels of the ESD device on a single bus it should improve the clamping performance. For placement, the best advice is to place the ESD protection as close to the Vdd input as possible.

Hi Alec,

Thanks. Do you mean to put it closer to adapter connector side or closer to the input of the buck? If it should be closer to the input of the buck, how to consider the best location since they have 6 buck ICs?

Antony-

Sorry for the delay! Place them close to the adaptor connector side, so that there is the most distance between the protection and the buck that they are trying to protect.
