Hi @ all,

in a current design we use the SN65LVPE512 for the host and the device side.

Now we have problems with the negotiation of the USB 3.1 device and if the negotiation is successful, only USB 2 Speed is possible over the channel.

Do you think that with the TUSB522P we can solve that problem? (Because in the datasheet of the TUSB522P it is written "No HOST/DEVICE-Side Requirement".

Whats exactly the main difference of that two IC's? I think at a first glance the TUSB522P offer less equalization gain (9dB) as the SN65LVPE512 (15dB).

Hello Mustafa,

The main difference between both devices is in the RX detection process. The TUSB522P is our newest USB3.1 Gen1 re-driver and fixes the bugs and known issues from our previous re-drivers, so we recommend to use the TUSB522P in new designs.

The issue you are facing is due to the inability to have two SN65LVPE512 in cascade and can be fixed by using the TUSB522P.

We also want to validate the 10 Gbit/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 redriver TUSB1002 for our application above. Is it possible to use this device for that topology?

Yes, it is possible, the TUSB1002 is capable of being in cascade.

few days ago i found that post in the e2e forum:

Here you wrote that it isn't possible to use the TUSB1002 in cascade formation.

I'm confused. It is very importand for us to know if we can use the TUSB1002 for our application.

Could you please verfiy the answer again?

It was my mistake, I can confirm that the TUSB1002 can be connected in cascade.
