DS90C387: TSTC value in Datasheet Unexpectedly Low

Part Number: DS90C387

We are characterizing timings for our next gen part . For the video timings, this DS90C387 part is being considered and the TSTC value listed in the datasheet is unexpectedly low for us. Is this value updated per the latest characterization with a 165 or 170MHz pixel clock (24 bit, single bit)?

  • Hi Colin,

It is hard for us to know the exact characterization setup, as this device was created in 2000. However, the limits are ensured by characterization.

The TSTC minimum value can be assumed to be the worst case scenario at the highest supported clock speed (170 MHz), where the time between setup and clock edge is at its minimum. A TSTC of 2.7 ns minimum is a little less than half the clock period (5.88 ns).

What are the requirements of your system? If the setup time between data and clock provided by your video data going into the DS90C387 has at least 2.7 ns, this should be sufficient to use with the DS90C387.

    Regards,

    Michael
