Hi, I'm just looking at designing this into a development board.

I'm looking at the power supply requirements, especially the decoupling requirements. Could you include recommendations about values and quantities of decoupling capacitors required for each of the supply pins.

Also, I tried to use a generic calculator for generating the required values, but some necessary information is missing from the datasheet: Typical current consumption for each of the supplies, Maximum current on each supply, Transient current on each supply.

Do you plan to have a development board / application note with a reference for this?

The Implementaion Guide available from the Product Folder has decoupling recommendations in section 3.

As far as current requirments, in section 3.6 of the Implementation Guide, we make recommendations for the regulators and the current outputs they should have.

We do not plan to have our own development board as the TUSB1310 must be used in conjunction with an FPGA (could be with DSPs/OMAPs in the future when they integrate the USB 3.0 digital controller core IP). There are multiple third parties who have FPGA development kits that feature the TUSB1310: PLDA supports both Altera and Xilinx FPGAs while System level Solutions supports Altera FPGAs. In addition Synopsys has a HAPS development platform that there is a TUSB1310 Daughtercard available for.

What kind of driver are you looking for? The TUSB1310 is a physical layer device (PHY) so it has no driver associated with it.

Hi Dan,

Thak you for getting back to me. I appreciate that regulators have been suggested, but I am using this device in part of a larger system. I wish to share power supplies in order to minimise space used on the board. I have determined the power requirements of the other devices, but it is essential that I know the current requirements for each of the supply pins to ensure that my power supply can deliver the current the total circuit needs. Do you have any data which you can share?

Jon,

Please look at page 30 of the TUSB1310 data sheet on ti.com. The power numbers were inadvertently placed in the 1.8V Digital IO table. I am working to get them moved to a more appropriate place.
