My customer is using TPS2511DGN and it will not trip thermal shutdown. Please find details listed below.
Issue details include:
Under 2A load and high ambient temperature the IC is left running for a day. The temperature of the IC is not reaching the rated level for thermal protection so it does not shutdown or hiccup. 1 in 5 of these IC's have either the D+/D- pins shorted to the +5V Vbus or to GND once this test has been completed. The IC then cannot communicate with a device and no charging occurs, but voltage still exists on Vbus and can still load 2A resistively.
Has this part ever exhibited this behavior in the past?
