HD3SS215: DC input voltage range of HD3SS215

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: HD3SS215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS213

Please let me check about DC input voltage of HD3SS215 below.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

①AUXC = AUX A or B (AUX_SEL=L)

 About datasheet page 8,

 ・AUX is VI/O_Diff=0~1.8Vpp

  AUX single end is 0.9Vpp(+/-0.45V)

 ・VCM=0~3.3V

 ⇒DC input is -0.45V(0V-0.45V)~3.75V(3.3V+0.45V), is it correct?

 ※By influence of AUX superimpose

②AUXC = DDCA or B (AUX_SEL=H)

 Is this condition same as DC input for ①?

 In this case, DDC pin and AUX pin are connected, especially I want to know AUX range.

③Same way of thinking HD3SS213, is it correct?

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

    Your understanding is right, DDC and AUX have the same electrical characteristics.

    Regarding HD3SS213, it has a reduced common mode voltage, so, it can't work with TMDS levels.

    HD3SS215 can be used on DP and HDMI applications

    HD3SS213 can be used on DP applications.

    Thank you for reply,

    Please let me check about question ②.
    In the HD3SS215 datasheet, DDC's VIH is described 2V~5.5V. (DDC: open drain)
    I think that DDC FET operation is below, is it correct?
    ・0~2V: ON(Low)
    ・2V~5.5V: OFF(pull-up high)
    If correct, Voltage range in the case of ②(AUXC=DDCA or B) is 0~2V, is it correct?

    Best regards,
    Satoshi
  • Hi Satoshi,

    For DDC the Ron was measured at 0.4V, it may work with values up to 2V but Ron will increase and we don't have information about Ron behavior.
