TUSB8020B: Upstream current capacity power delivery

Part Number: TUSB8020B

Hi,

I have an application requirement for a USB Power Delivery system (USB2.0 is fine, but 3 would be better) for a 1 to 2 Hub (data connection) that can source upstream 2amps and charge two devices downstream for 1amps each and looking for suitable devices to handle the Power Delivery commands to source 2 amps.

Is this the correct device? Looking at the schematic for the evaluation board the upstream Vbus is not connected and an external 5v is used - is this because the device will not source from upstream?

Is there another device I should be looking at to perform this function?

  • Hello,
The TUSB8020B support battery charging so it can support changing devices downstream @1A, however, the power is coming from VBUS, the Hub only handles the battery charging negotiation.
There are dedicated stand alone USB battery charging devices, I don't have one in my mind right now but you can search on ti.com
I don't understand what do you mean by "source 2A upstream"

    Regards
