TMDS171: TMDS181 P/N polarity swap

Part Number: TMDS171

Dear Sir

1. Due to make the layout easily if I connect HDMI Lane0 input and output at the same time ,is it workable

2. If I change the P/N polarity swap input and output at at the same time ,is it workable ?

  • Hi Kai,

    I'm sorry I don't understand the first point, "if I connect HDMI Lane0 input and output at the same time ,is it workable" could you elaborate?

    Regarding the second point if you swap polarity at input and output it should work without problem, if you need polarity swap at input xor output, they you need some configuration.

    Regards

  • Dear Garcia

    In the EVM ,you can see HDMI connector connect Lane2 to TMDS171's Lane2 ,but our schematic HDMI connector connect Lane0 to TMDS171's Lane2 as above

    I think ti could be work ,is it right ?

    Thanks for your quick reply

  • Hi Kai,

    There are a couple points to clarify.
    TMDS171 is an HDMI1.4 reriver/retimer
    In HDMI the lanes are names D0, D1, D2, CLK

    We have DP++ to HDMI level shifter like DP129/DP139/DP149/DP159
    These devices receive HDMI video using DP electrical signals, so in DP the lanes re named ML0, ML1, ML2 and ML3
    ML0 -> D2
    ML1 -> D1
    ML2 -> D0
    ML3 -> CLK

    In your schematic I see the lanes follow DP convention, even they have DP prefix, but they have the right order.
    Could you elaborate about the application, Why are you using TMDS171 with DP signals?

    Regards
