TPD4S009: ESD protection

Part Number: TPD4S009

Hi,

While using ESD protection i am facing an issue of Packet loss. I am not able to acknowledge all packets that we are sending.

But when we removed this ESD protection then it is working fine with no packet loss.

What could be the reasons for this and how it can be resolved.

Thank you.

I'll need a bit more information to troubleshoot this issue for you, but we can get this figured out.  A few questions:

    • What interface are you losing packets for?
    • What is the max signal speed?
    • What is the max signal voltage?

With these questions, I should be able to offer more concrete advice. A few initial thoughts though are that your signal speed is too high for the .8pF capacitance of the TPD4S009. Above a few Gbps this could begin causing issues and I can recommend a better fitting part. The second thing I'd guess is that you are routing the TPD4S009 on a signal stub that is increasing the effective capacitance. It would be helpful as well if you could post or email me (alec.forbes@ti.com) images of the signal routing around the ESD protection.

Let me know these answers and we can get this issue solved!

    Thanks,

    Alec
