TMDS171: TMDS171 Lane Swap

Part Number: TMDS171

Hi,

I've already successfully used the TMDS171 with really nice results, now I want to use it to replace an old retimer, the pinout is close but obviously not pin to pin compatible.

From the forum I've understood that I can swap the input lane pair and swap the output pair of the same lane without problems, actually I also need to swap (in retimer and redriver mode) the input lanes using the SWAP/POL feature, so from the datasheet grounding the SWAP/POL input, is that right?

In this way I will connect the clock lane in the IN_D2 lane input, and I connect the IN_D2 to the clock input lane, I will lose the SIG_EN feature?

Thank you

Regards

  • Hi Aurelio,

Lanes swap(SWAP/POL=L) is depicted in figure 25, lane swapping is on the input, not at the output.
When the lanes are swapped clock signals is fed into IN_D2, keeping it's EQ, clock recovery, and signal detection capabilities.

You can make a polarity swap at input and polarity swap at the output without any configuration on TMDS171.
In case you only need one polarity swap, you will need to configure polarity swap.

    Regards
