What is the minimum diff. level at CML receiver inputs ?
Data sheets shows: VTX Source Transmit Launch Signal Level (IN diff) AC-Coupled Requirement, Differential measurement at point A. Figure 1 600 mVp-p
Regarding figure 1 this is the source signal followed by Media A.
What is the min Diff-Level at TPB ?

  • Hi Thomas,

The exact signal level at TPB is somewhat variable and will depend on the channel attenuation, encoding algorithm, as well as the transmit launch amplitude.

The minimum recommended launch amplitude is 600mV at TPA.

The signal detect circuit will deassert if the amplitude at TPB < 60mV.

Consider a channel with 20 dB of attenuation, and a 600 mV transmit amplitude.  If a repeating 101010 pattern is transmitted at TPA, the resulting amplitude at TPB will be ~ 60 mV due to the channel attenuation.  Higher levels of transmit amplitude will allow the DS100BR410 to compensate for longer channels with additional attenuation.

The DS100BR210 datasheet (page 39) shows some typical input signals after long input channels.
