TCA6424A: Input damage on IO Expander EVM

Part Number: TCA6424A

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a new project with the IO expander EVM, particularly with the TCA6424A. I have configured the IO:

* P00, P02, P03, P04 as outputs with leds.
* P04, P5, P06, P07 No connected.
* P10, P11, P12, P13, P14, P15, P16, P17, P20, P21 as inputs.
* P22, P23, P24, P25, P26, P27 as outputs.

I was checking voltages when suddenly the inputs (From P10 to P21 ) stopped working. I'm using an optocoupler to isolated the input and it's working fine. I read in the datasheets the PXX ports are 5V tolerant, aren't they? I can't configure Vccp to 5 Volts because I'm using the IO expander EVM and they are tied together.

Any suggestion why the inputs stopped working?. If I configure the port as outputs work fine, but If I configure the ports as inputs, the port is stuck to zero or to VCC, depends on the value of the register output.

Best regards.
