DP83867IS: DP83867IS 100 BASE T configuration with SGMII

Hi,

We are planning to use DP83867IS TI part for one of our new design. Our MAC interface will be SGMII. Can we configure DP83867IS for 100 BASE T MDI with only 2 differential pairs connected to the cable?.On will it automatically select the 1000 BASE T which will be using 4 differential pairs always?

Hi Safeer,

With the DP83867IS, you can use MDIO transactions to either force the PHY into 100base-tx mode or disable auto-negotiation advertisement of the 1000base-t mode.

You can force the DP83867IS into 100base-tx mode using the BMCR register address 0x0, or disable 1000base-t modes in register address 0x9

Hi Safeer,

Forcing the mode on the cable side is independent of the MAC interface being used. What I mentioned above is applicable for both RGMII and SGMII.
