TCA9617A: TCA9617A isolate signal capacitance load issue

Part Number: TCA9617A

Hi team,

Our original idea is use TCA9617A to isolate HDMI-I2C signal capacitance load (Criteria by HDMI signal capacitance is <50 pF. Original we got 54pF when not implement TCA9617A)

But, After implement it. If EN-tie to high to active, we got 11nF.  If we tie EN to low to turn-off, we got 37pF. This is our target.

I'd like to know the TCA9617A is suitable for our HDMI-I2C capacitance isolate design?  If yes, How to narrow the 11nF during EN - high active?

If not. Do you have any recommendation to us?  We're already implement it on board.

Thanks

  • Hello Daniel,
I want to make sure I understand the application and the question.

Are you talking about the DDC:HDMI capacitance compliance requirement? The test setup for this testing is unique and can be problematic to "PASS" if you don't understand how the testing is done and how the part interacts with the test setup.

Can you show me how you have connected to TCA9617A in your system? What are your supply rails? What is side is connected to the HDMI cable? (Is it A or B side). How are you taking the capacitance measurements? We generally recommend connecting the A side to the HDMI connector and the B side to the host controller.
