Convert Gigabit Ethernet to fiber IC Select

Hi Team,

The customer needs to select an IC which can convert  the Gigabit Ethernet to the fiber. The bandwidth is 1Gbit/s. The communication is full duplex.

The customer will use this case to replace the RJ45 case. 

Q1: Can you recommend a suitable IC?

Q2: Do we have an IC or an case which can convert  the Gigabit Ethernet to the fiber and can also convert  the fiber to the Gigabit Ethernet ?

If we have, please  recommenda suitable IC that can meet the customer's requirements.

    Hello Mickey,

    Are they looking for 1000Base-FX standard? Unfortunately we do not have a device in our portfolio which can operate in 1000Base-FX mode. However, we have a way to convert copper to fiber for 1Gbps. DP83867E/IS/CS can be used for this application. It involves connecting the SGMII pins of DP83867E/IS/CS to fiber transceiver and the PMD side to standard RJ-45 connector.

    Thank you for your reply. The customer does not tell me if he is looking for 1000Base-FX standard.

    The customer needs to convert the Gigabit Ethernet to the fiber to achieve a long-distance transmission.

    Can DP83867E/IS/CS convert the Gigabit Ethernet to the fiber? What is the copper to fiber?

    Hello Mickey,

    What I meant by copper to fiber is that DP83867 can convert signals coming from the Cat5 cable side (copper) to SGMII which can be connected to suitable fiber transceiver.

    Coming back to the original questions "The customer needs to select an IC which can convert the Gigabit Ethernet to the fiber", can we get more information about customer application? A block diagram would also be helpful.
