TCA6408A: TCA6408A Resets every time i power on

Part Number: TCA6408A

since i am using TCA6408A GPIO IC. It is having 3 registers configuration , input and out register. everytime i power on it will reset by itself to input mode and all the 8 pins are configured for reading the value. if their any way in hardware that i can make it constant 4 pins input for reading the value and 4 pins for writing the output value. please do let me know as soon as possible.

Hello Shivalingaraju,

The TCA6408A has power-on reset as can be seen in section 8.4.1 of the datasheet. Consequently the default values will be restored each time it is powered on. I presume that you are trying to reduce power consumption. So in this case, you may consider putting the device in standby mode after the initial configuration of the registers. The necessary standby conditions are defined in section 6.5 of the datasheet.

I am Glad to find a reply from you sir, I have referred section 8.4.1 of the datasheet there, I found the information about how the reset is happening. In your reply you have told that " Consequently the default values will be restored each time it is powered on." Instead of that I want to set four pin for output and four pin for input and it has to retain its state even after POWER OFF and POWER ON. Is it possible please do reply me thank you in advance. awaiting for your reply.

Hello Shivalingaraju,

Unfortunately what you want is not possible with these devices as the device does not have non-volatile memory.
