XIO2001: XIO2001 Application Question

Part Number: XIO2001

Hi Sir,

XIO2001 maximum can support three PCI device at same time, Right?

Bus            Bandwidth(Forward-direction)          Bandwidth(Bi-directional)

PCI             133MHz                                              133MHz

PCIeX1       250MHz                                              500MHz

  • No, each bus is shared among all devices. PCIe is a point-to-point connection, so there is no sharing; but on the PCI bus, only one device can transmit at a time.

With the XIO2001 (or any other bridge), it is not possible to get more than 133 MHz (minus overhead) out of a single PCI bus.
To allow multiple PCI devices at the same time, you would need multiple PCI buses (i.e., multiple bridges).
