SN75DP130: SN75DP130 support 4096*2160 60 Hz??

Part Number: SN75DP130

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

As title, does DP130 support ˋ4096*2160 60 Hz?

Because we couldn't work on EVM when resolution is 4096*2160 60 Hz?

But if 3840*2160 are OK.

I know before 3840*2160 usually called 4K2K, but we need 4096*2160 60 Hz.

So could you help check this spec?

By the way, we saw datasheet  9.3.5 table 4 could selection 2.7/5.4g by register, have any setting we could change from EVM?

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

    DP130 is DP1.2 compliant which support 4096*2160@60Hz(4k).
Actually, 3840*2160@60Hz(UHD) and 4096*2160@60Hz(4k) use the same data rate, the difference is the active pixels.

Could you elaborate about the issue, from the PC, can you see 4k resolution listed?
If 4k is listed, switching from UHD to 4k stops working?
Switching from 2.7Gbps to 5.4Gbps is done automatically from AUX monitoring, to do it manually you cna follor the application note DP130 in sink application, that document has code sample for Aardvark.

    Regards
  • Hi Moises,
    Thanks for your reply.
Q: Could you elaborate about the issue, from the PC, can you see 4k resolution listed?
A: Yes, if we removed EVM, We could link 4096*2160@60Hz(4k) monitor.

Q: If 4k is listed, switching from UHD to 4k stops working?
A: Yes, we saw 4096*2160 list, but if we select this setting, the monitor will be hand on black , then switching to UHD
But if we removed EVM, The monitor will be working on 4096*2160.
We change the cable, but the same phenomenon.
By the way, cable has been certified
  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

How long is the input and output cable?
What EQ are you selecting in the EVM?
Are you able to configure the device by I2C?

    Regards
  • Q: How long is the input and output cable?
We tried 1M and 1.5M cable.

Q: What EQ are you selecting in the EVM?
We tried setting all EQ level on EVM already. But same phenomenon

Q: Are you able to configure the device by I2C?
I'm sorry i don't know how to configure the device by I2C on EVM, could you share for us?
  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

This is weird, I suggest configuring the device manually, please follow this application note:
    www.ti.com/.../slla349.pdf

This application note guides you on the configuration of DP130 wihtout AUX monitor, there you can configure DPCD registers to select DAat rate, number of lanes, Vod, Pre-Emphais and DP low power mode. besides you can configure DP130 specific register for EQ.

Before configuring the device, you can select 4k and check if the configuration in DPCD is the right one.

    Regards
