DS280MB810: Port mirroring (1:2) repeater at 40G/100G using DS280MB810.

Part Number: DS280MB810

Hi,

Planning to implement port mirroring using 1:2 repeater at  40G/100G. Kindly refer below application diagram and let me know if this is a feasible architecture. I am more concerned about the link training and link establishment since the device DS280MB810 is transparent for link training sequences.

If feasible, How is it possible to establish links for the mirrored (repeater) paths?

Thanks,

Jaison

  • Hi Jaison,

Link training is not usually supported on optical modules since they do not terminate the link.  I believe the "link" would be established between the 10G/25G system devices on either side of the optical modules.

From an electrical standpoint, the DS280MB810 is a linear equalizer with sufficient bandwidth and dynamic range to support link training in 10G/25G applications which utilize the feature to optimize system Tx/Rx settings.

The 2x2 input mux within the DS280MB810 could provide the datapath configurations needed to implement the block diagram.

  • Hi Lee,

    Thanks for your feed back.

I am still waiting for access to the full data sheet to validate this architecture.

    Thanks,

    Jaison
