P82B96: Pull up resistors

Hello Sir/Madam,

We are using P82B96 I2C Extender on our system to connect a sensor to controller which is placed at 6 meters away.

Below are my specs:

Voltage at Sx/Sy side- 3.3V

Voltage at Tx/Rx side 5V

I need to connect two devices which shall run at 400KHz and 800KHz respectively. Could you please help in calculating Pull up resistor values for the same.

Hello Kiran,
It depends on the capacitive load and desired speed. Have you looked at our app note that covers the calculations?

Since P82B96 considers 0.8 as low on data lines it is not feasible to use with all I2C devices since other devices consider volatge level below 0.8V as low. can you suggest a voltage translotor that can be used with P82B96 and my slave device whih has Vil=0.3V

Hello Kiran,
Can you tell me what slave device you are using? Vil of 0.3V sounds really low. You may need to connect the A side to the slave and use the B side to the master. What is your master's Vil?
