Hi,

can anyone tell my how to connect the thermal pad of the gipo expander PCF8574ARGYR. Should I connect it to GND?

It is usually advised to connect the thermal pad to ground because the ground usually has the least thermal resistance Because it has the most copper in the PCB. It is not a rule because it is not electrically connected.

Thank you for your reply. I asked because the clue in the datasheet was somewhat vague. The Pad is just not labled.
