TPS65982: unused GPIO without 1M resistor

Guru 29710 points
Part Number: TPS65982

Hi Team,

I understood recommended disposal of unused GPIO is to connect Gnd pin with 1M resistor and assign "Disabled" as the following.

Is it possible to connect Gnd pin directly?
Or is there another method to dispose unused GPIO without 1M resistor by assigning another event?

If the both answer is no, I will recommend to add 1M resistor to my customer again.

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita-san,

It is not necessary to use a 1M resistor to ground, the 1M resistor is recommended as a safety measure incase the unused GPIO is accidentally configured. If the grounded GPIO is accidentally configured, the device would draw a lot of current and you potentially risk damaging the device. It would be safer to leave the unused GPIOs floating and then map them to "Output Enabled Without Event". This way the GPIO will always be driving low.

    Thank you,
    Eric
