TLK10031: can be applied for 10Gbps (max distance 20km )?

Hello,

we want to design system with data rate 10Gbps(max distance 20km), the transceiver chip will be connected to FPGA and SFP+ optical module. can TLK10031 be used for the application?

Hi Kerb,

The TLK10031 is able to interface with optical modules through 10GBASE-SR or 10GBASE-LR. The distance that you are planning to use is too long for these physical layers. Please let me verify with the team if this is feasible with this device.

Optical interface of The SFP+ Optical Transceiver is compliant to IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-LR, is it ok?

Hi Kerb,

As I mentioned before TLK10031 can be used to support 10G Ethernet for optical (10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-SR, etc.) and backplane (10GBASE-KR) applications. They support 64b/66b encoding, scrambling, clock tolerance compensation, forward error correction, backplane Ethernet auto-negotiation, KR link training, and test pattern generation/verification. In my understanding the 10GBASE-LR supports up ~10km.
