TUSB422: USB HOST SINK

Part Number: TUSB422

i want to know  whether  TUSB422  Supports try.sink or try.source function ?

whether try.sink/try.source  can change the power role of my device as a host while working as otg host.

and i want to choose an ic which can make the sink host role apperas in our device.

  • 422 support try snk and src.

422 support full PD with appropriate policy manager. full PD to support power role swap if you want to maintain host status
  • the host can perform all the appropriate policy manager by I2C interface?

by the way, what do you mean by   'full PD to support power role swap if you want to maintain host status'  ?

    thank a lot.

  • The Port Manager (I2C master) and the TUSB422 will be able to control and manage all the PD protocol, please let me know if this is what you asked for in the first question because I didn´t fully understand it.

The TUSB422 supports power role swap, this means that the port continues with the Host role but at the same time is sinking power from the type-C cable. an example could be when you have a laptop connected to a Type-C docking station; if the laptop is connected to its charger it is acting as a Host and providing power to the docking station, but if you disconnect the laptop's charger, then the laptop battery is discharging, is at this moment when the laptop can request a power role swap to the docking station and start sinking power from the type-C cable in order to recharge its own battery. In this scenario, the laptop was always the Host, but the power role changed from source to sink when the laptop´s  charger was disconnected).
