TPD12S016: Error in datasheet of HDMI chip

Part Number: TPD12S016

Just would like to confirm that Pin Functions table on page 4 is wrong. This is CLK-, CLK+ on the second row. Correct? It doesn't change anything because in the HDMI protocol, data is on both up and down of the clock so clock polarity doesn't really matter. Still, the table seems wrong compares to the graphs above and also to the layouts later in the datasheet.

  • Hi,

For the TPD12S016 the CLK+ and CLK- correlate to pins 10 and 12 on a HDMI connector as shown below.

The reason there is both CLK+ and CLK- is for the TMDS differential signaling. This helps reduce EMI in the system as well as increasing data packet accuracy by basing the bit value on the difference between the two signals. I hope this helps!

    Very Respectfully,

    Brian Dempsey
