Hi,

Our customer has a question about DP83822.
I'm posting the question for the customer:

DP83822 has Fast Link Down Mode.

There is the following description in the datasheet;

Table 26. 0x000B Control Register #3 (CR3), Fast Link Down Modes,

Bit 3 Drop the link based on RX Error count of the "MII interface".
When a predefined number of 32 RX Error occurences in a 10us
interval is reached, the link will be dropped.

I have a question.

Is the Fast Link Down Mode effective in RGMII interface?

I would like to use this device for EtherCAT in RGMII interface.

Hi Takishin-san,

Sorry for the confusion you have on this.
RX_ER exists for MII and RGMII. And actually RX_ER is technically a result of the MDI issues (cable side), but is brought to the MII/RGMII (digital side) so the MAC can realize any issues.

Hi Takishin-san,

To clarify, the FLD feature will work for RGMII because the RX_CTRL signal contains the RX_ER signal. RX_ER is combined with RX_DV to create the RX_CTRL signal.
