TUSB7340: The connecting USB3.0 and operating as USB2.0.

Part Number: TUSB7340

Hello

Regarding to the connecting USB on TUSB7340, my customer is asking question.

(Their requirement configuration)

USB3.0 device -> USB3.0 connecter -> TUSB7340 is operated as USB2.0

All(4) DN ports : USB3.0 device -> USB3.0 connecter

2x DN ports : TUSB7340 is operated as USB2.0.

2x DN ports : TUSB7340 is operated as USB3.0.

(They refer TUSB7340 EVM schematics(below) as USB3.0 connecter )

(Question)

Can this device be supported their above configuration as specification? (USB standard or TUSB7340)

If it can be supported, how does TUSB7340 configure the register?

I know that it will be supported with following configuration.

USB2.0 device -> USB3.0 connecter -> TUSB7340 is operated as USB2.0.

(TUSB7340 EVM schematics)

But I’m not sure whether it can be supported with their requirement configuration.

  • Hello,
    The TUSB7340 does not have an option to disable the USB3.0 or USB2.0 portion of a downstream port.
    If you want to force one port to SS or HS, you should leave the unused lines disconnected, leaving either the SS or HS lines disconnected could lead to interoperability issues though.
