Hi,

I received the following question from my customer.

Are the TPS2549Q1 and the TPS2546Q1 satisfied with all specs of the BC1.2?

On the BC1.2 , it is specified that over 6V and 5A is not allowed as USB port at all times.

Do the TPS2549Q1 and the TPS2546Q1 follow above condition?

I think that these devices doesn't have overvoltage protection, so external circuit is required for all specs of the BC 1.2.

Is it correct?

Yes, these devices comply with BC1.2.

And, you are right that these devices to not have OVP, only OCP.

Thank you for your answer.

I'm understanding that OVP is required to comply all specs of the BC 1.2, so the TPS25xx cannot comply them.
Is it my misunderstanding?

My understanding is that this is more of a system requirement if a single device cannot meet every spec. So, the upstream DC/DC among other circuits must provide OVP.
