What will happen if the 2 ns setup and hold time is violated?
Is there any risk of the chip locking up requiring a power cycle to recover?

I have 10 slow asynch signals to send and I want to avoid having to use flip-flops to synchronize the signals.

    Hi Eric,

    Violating the 2.0ns setup and hold times will not cause the chip to lock up, but it may affect the ability of the serializer to send the correct data. The setup and hold times in the switching characteristics section of the datasheet guarantee that the data will be latched in correctly.
