TUSB546-DCI: Displayport Pin Assignments

Part Number: TUSB546-DCI

Hi ,

Anyone know about Pin assignments A, B, C, D, E and F from VESA Display port alt mode on Type-C.

Since TUSB546 supports only C, D, E and F,  we want to know what that A & B pin configuration, GEN2_BR?

In one of the TI application note, PD alternate mode-Display port(slva844a.Pdf) they have mentioned VESA specification in Table-1(please see the below image for your reference)

what that cable type and displayport signaling means??

If anyone knows the answer, you are welcome!!!

  • Hi Vijaya,

The only difference of the A & B pin assignments is that both configurations are intended for 10Gbps DisplayPort data rate, this means that the DP information will be transmitted using the USB3.1 generation 2 electrical parameters. The TUSB546 was designed for USB3.1 Gen1, so it cannot work with the A & B configurations due to its lack of bandwidth.

I am not familiar with this DP configurations, but it should be hard to find any DP sink device that supports 10Gbps since the released DP spec has HBR3 as the maximum bit rate (8.1Gbps).

    Regards,

    Diego.
