TPD8S300: D3 D4 pins are unused.

Part Number: TPD8S300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD6S300

Hi,

We have some questions regarding D3 D4 pins.

  • If DP_B is short to DP_T and DM_B is short to DM_T on type-c connector, can we just connect DPDM from type-c connector to D1/D2 only and keep D3/D4 unconnected?
  • From above, with such schematics design, does it mean TPS8S300 and TPD6S300 are drop-in replacement to each other.

Thanks!

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

There is no issue in connecting the DP and DM and leaving the other pins floating. Also, you are correct that the 6S can be used in this application as well as the 8S due to there only being 2-D pins. I hope this helps out!

    Very Respectfully,

    Brian Dempsey
