SN75LVCP600S: COMWAKE SATA specification

Part Number: SN75LVCP600S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125BR111, DS64BR111, DS125BR820, DS125BR401A

Dear Technical Support Team,

I have some problems SATA with SN75LVCP600S.

I think these are caused by AutoLPEXIT (3040ns) .

・Host COMRESET Transmit Burst of 1st COMWAKE should keep 105ns on SATA specification,

But 85ns through SN75LVCP600S. So it's not satisfied with  SATA specification.

・Signal level of Host COMRESET Transmit Gap is different from before/after issue 1stCOMWAKE.

・Link is established, but compliance test NG.

・Waveforms are here. sata.pdf

■Questions

1.) How do you think out of range of COMWAKE SATA specification.

I'd like to pass compliance test of SATA.

2.) Do you have a workaround?

If not, do you have a plan to release fixed next version IC?

Best Regards,

ttd

  • ttd,

The LVCP600S does not have a mechanism to turn off the AutoLP feature.  If you require the first COMWAKE burst to be within the specification, then I would recommend using the DS125BR111 or the DS64BR111 with EEPROM configuration.  Either of these devices will pass SATA compliance since they do not incorporate an automatic reduced power mode of operation.

  • Hi Lee,

Here is "Linear Repeaters Used in SAS/SATA Applications" for DS125BR820 and DS125BR401A.
It shows "Passing Out Of Band (OOB) Signals" on Page.10 and 11.
    www.tij.co.jp/.../snla236.pdf

DS125BR111 or the DS64BR111 have same result of "Passing Out Of Band (OOB) Signals" ?

    Best Regards,
  • Yes,  both devices can pass OOB signals.

The DS125BR111 is just a 2-channel version of the DS125BR820 used in the application note.

The DS64BR111 is slightly different.  For SATA applications I recommend to use SMBus register control and configuration.  There are a few SMBus register writes which can be used to minimize any distortion to the OOB signal due to the repeater function.

    Lee

  • Hi Lee,

    Thank you for your reply.
I understand that DS125BR111 are DS64BR111 can pass OOB signals.

By the way, Is it possile for SN75LVCP600S to pass compliance test?
It can't pass the first COMWAKE burst to be within the specification.
How do I think about compliance specification?
    SN75LVCP600S datasheet shows below.

    -------------------
The device complies with SATA physical spec rev 3.0 and SAS electrical spec 2.0.
