About DP83849I,
without magnetics (AC-coupled to backplane, 100BASE-TX).
While power off, is there any protection circuit inside to the TPRDx_x inputs for incoming 100BASE-TX signals or is it necessary to protect these inputs by an external protection circuit?

Hi Dieter,

There is protection inside the DP83849I but it is rated for HBM and not IEC levels.
What type of ESD rating do you need, HBM or IEC?
What level?

If you require IEC, I suggest using a low capacitance ESD diode array.

HMB is sufficient, to be on the safe side is an additional diode array TPD4E1U06 or TPD4E05U06 ok?
