DS90UB964-Q1: TI DS90UB964-Q1 Quad FPD-Link III Deserializer Hub Question

Part Number: DS90UB964-Q1

Hi, our customer plan use DS90UB964-Q1 connect to their our infotainment SOC and got some question below,

[1]

There is no ISP in customer infotainment SOC, they have to use camera modules equipped with ISP and FPD-Link Tx, then connect to our SOC MIPI CSI 4-lane input by DS90UB964.

From DS90UB964 datasheet, it can  support  multiple  data  formats  (programmable  as  RAW,  YUV,  RGB). However, in table2, it mentioned only RAW, could you help confirm this ?

[2]

BTW, the calculation (12bitx1280x1024x30= 471Mbps) should be based on CMOS raw sensor output data rate. Data rate for 4 cameras will be quadruple.

#1. For FPD-Link Tx, extra info (8b/10 encoding, virtual channel, ...) should also be embedded. What will be the total  data output rate ? Could you give me an example based on 10bit YUV 1280x1024 30fps ?

#2. 30fps is good enough for us. they would like to check if DS90UB913 is good enough for our application on 1920x1080 10bit YUV 30fps FPD-Link camera, or they need 933/953.

[3]

To simplify FPD-Link verification, can DS90UB964 be configured for only 1 camera input, as rear view camera application (there should be no MIPI virtual channel info in this case)  ?

  • Hi Eddie,

1.) Yes, the DS90UB964 works with the DS90UB913(a) and/or the DS90UB933 which support all 3 color spaces: RAW, YUB, and RGB.

2.) Please refer to the below table for an idea of what various bit depth + resolutions will yield in terms of data throughput:

3.) You can use the DS90UB964 with only 1 camera input.

    Regards,
