DS90UH949-Q1EVM: HDMI Signal is not detected currectly

Part Number: DS90UH949-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP

Hello TI Team,

The module detects the RX_5V of the HDMI interface but it has some issues with the HDMI frequency stability (I have tried two Eval. modules of the sample model):

Could you please help solving this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards

Nawras

  • Hi Nawras,

It looks like there is no clock present on the HDMI input - have you measured to confirm? That would make sense, because HPD status shows as False. This means the 949 has not yet indicated to the HDMI source that it is ready to accept video.

To test if this is the case, try clicking the 'Assert Hot-Plug' button on the right side of the HDMI tab of ALP. That should cause the HDMI source to start outputting video.

If that is the issue, then we can look at why the 949 thinks it's not ready for video. At that point, please reset (to clear the forced hot-plug) and take a register dump in the case where the clock is not present. You can do this easily from the Registers tab - click the Display button on the right and then copy-paste the contents into a .txt file (or into your E2E post).

    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Hello Jason,

After clicking the 'Assert Hot-Plug' button, the 'HDMI HPD' become 'TRUE'... However, the 'HDCP State' still 'Unauthenticated' and the 'HDMI Freq.' is ' Not Stable' as shown:

I need this to be solved as soon as possible... we are realy far behind schedule.

    Thanks for your support

    Regards

    Nawras

  • What are you using for an HDMI source? Have you measured the signals at the input of the 949 (particularly the clock)? What frequency are you expecting to be operating at?

Also it would be helpful if you can take a register dump of both serializer and deserializer, as mentioned in my previous post.

    Thanks,
    Jason
