TUSB3410: Recognition of multiple devices

Hi,

I received the following question from my customer.

The document "SLLA170F(www.ti.com/.../slla170f.pdf)" says that ”A host that sees two devices with the same VID/PID and same serial number may not allow both of them to function.”

However, they have confirmed that two TUSB3210s are recognized COM port separately by one PC.

What kind of cases are multiple TUSB3410s recognized?

The customer would like to know if they must serialize the signal or implement the EEPROM.

Hello Kuramochi,

If they are using an EEPROM they just need to program the EEPROM as "Not serialized", if they are not using any EEPROM they don't need to change anything the Device is configured as "Not serialized" as default.

EEPROM is not implemented now.

I ask you as follows, again.

They would like to connect two TUSB3410Q1 with one PC(host).
And they have confirmed that two TUSB3210s are recognized COM port separately by one PC.

Must they implement EEPROM when connecting two TUSB3410Q1 with one PC(host) ?

Kuramochi-san,

The EEPROM is not required for that. the PC must recognize multiple TUSB3410 as default.
